When it comes to maintaining smooth, refined skin, consistency and care are key. Anti-wrinkle treatments are one of the most effective tools in modern aesthetics, but like any treatment, they must be used strategically to ensure long-term effectiveness.
At OBRA, we’re committed to helping you get the most out of every treatment while preserving your results over time. Below, we share five essential tips to help you maximise your anti-wrinkle treatment and reduce the risk of developing resistance.
1. Follow the Three-Month Rule (Always)

This is our golden rule for a reason. Repeating treatments too frequently—especially earlier than the 12-week mark—can increase the chance of your body building antibodies to the product, potentially leading to reduced effectiveness over time.
Sticking to a consistent three-month cycle gives your body the ideal timeframe to respond to the treatment, without overexposure. Booking your next appointment at the 12-week mark helps preserve results and longevity.
2. Don’t Chase Movement

It can be tempting to ‘top up’ the moment you notice any movement returning—but it’s important to let the product wear off naturally. Treating too soon not only risks resistance but can also compromise the natural look we aim to maintain at OBRA.
We guide our clients with a long-term plan tailored to their unique anatomy, expression, and treatment goals.
3. Avoid Immune System Triggers Around Treatment Time

Avoid vaccinations, illness recovery, or significant immune system activity (like dental procedures) within a few days of treatment, if possible. Your immune system is more active during these periods, which may influence how your body responds to the treatment.
If you're unsure, always check in with us before scheduling.
4. Choose a Qualified, Consistent Practitioner

It matters who you trust with your face. Seeing multiple injectors, changing brands frequently, or receiving varying doses can make it harder to track your results and predict your treatment needs.
At OBRA, treatments are performed by a registered nurse with a graduate diploma in cosmetic nursing and a deep understanding of facial anatomy and product science.
5. Stick to Medical-Grade Dosage & Technique

Suboptimal dosing may seem like a way to "go easy," but too little product can reduce the effect and create the illusion that the treatment isn’t working—leading to more frequent visits and, again, increased exposure. On the flip side, over-treatment can also backfire.
We focus on balanced, evidence-based dosing strategies that support both your appearance and long-term outcomes.
Signs You Might Be Developing Resistance
If you’ve been consistent with treatments and suddenly notice that your usual dose isn’t delivering the same results, or if the effect wears off much faster than it used to, it could be a sign of resistance.
Other signs include:
Needing higher doses for the same result
Movement returning much earlier than before
Areas that were previously smooth no longer responding
This doesn’t happen overnight, but it is something we monitor carefully. If you’re experiencing any of these, please reach out so we can explore options together.
Let’s Talk About Your Treatment Plan
Every face is unique, and so is every response to treatment. Whether you’re starting fresh or have been a client for years, we’d love to guide you through a plan that supports your skin, your confidence, and your long-term treatment success.
